They Don't take tips - They aren't allowed. I usually send a nice thank you card after shopping.
Do you tip them? If so, how much?

No,I don't, and I don't think that they expect it. What they do appreciate, though, is if you give them credit whenever you make a purchase. What you can do is ask the cashier to give a copy of your receipt to "_____", your personal shopper.
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, so I will mention it.....
Please don't anyone mention the names or phone numbers of your own personal shoppers. Several months ago, some of that occurred here, and some other message boards picked up on those names, and pretty soon some poor personal shopper was in tears because she was having to spend all her time answering the phone, instead of taking care of her regular customers. So if you want a personal shopper, please call the store nearest you, or the store of your choice, and ask them to forward your call to a personal shopper. Or you can PM someone here privately and ask them for a referral of who they like.
Thanks,
Joy

Joy, that's nice to know. I don't think I've ever mentioned ours by name because I'm always afraid she'll get into trouble. They sometimes give us information (and we share it here) that the general public is not privvy too. I also wonder if or how often they might read this board. I love ours and would never want to cause her problems. Thanks for passing the info along.
Ok, I'm new to the board and to AG so can someone explain what a Personal Shopper is?
Thanks!!
From what I understand, a Personal Shopper is an employee at any AGPlace that will help you find the stuff you need and hold it in a special place for you until you're ready to check out at the store. Or they might get the things you need for you before you actually come in and have it all ready for you to pick up. Someone who's actually used a PS will be able to clarify that better. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">All of the above is correct. They will also continue to be your 'personal shopper' and send you emails, usually about upcoming events and/or sales in the stores. After visiting AGPNY in July of last year, I call my PS directly to place an order through her. Originally posted by tngirl03:

I believe that there is a difference between the regular "associates" who stand around ready to give you whatever help that you might need, and the "personal shoppers". Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The regular associates are plentiful in every area of the store, and they do some of the things that have been mentioned--help you find what you're looking for and hold it for you. They do not have a relationship with you and they do not keep track of you as someone that they have helped.
The personal shoppers have their own office, and they usually don't stand around on the floor waiting for someone to help, and there's a limited number of them--say maybe 6 per store? When you call the store, you can ask for the Personal Shopper office, in order to find one. Once you start working with one, she keeps a page about you in her notebook, with your name, address and phone number, and possibly credit card number, and possibly what you usually buy.
You can call and ask her if she could collect what you want to buy and leave it in "Will Call" for you to pick up. You can ask her for any kind of special help or information that you might need. She will include her card and a thank you card, in an envelope with your receipt. And when you buy things there on your own, you can also ask them to send a copy of the receipt to her office. It's often very nice to have a personal relationship, which develops over time, with someone at the store, someone who knows you by name and buying habits.
If anyone has anything to add about their experience with personal shoppers, please feel free.
Joy
I also think that the stores have PSs in training of a sort. I had a great experience with an associate at AGPC, but we have remained in contact in more the way you would with a PS, so I think that maybe he was being trained to be a personal shopper or something. Either way, I got the best service of my life at AGPC
